Sure you want to be a leader; maybe you were a leader your whole life, but you never actually had the chance to prove it. Maybe you were too shy to state your great ideas in class or you were too lazy to write them down in those home essays for economy class. But now you are all grown-up and you need to start thinking about your future. If being a leader is still on your mind, maybe it is time to see what you can do about it.

Step 1: Go to college. Go to a college and choose to enroll in a business leadership program. Get your Bachelor of Arts in Business Leadership or your Master’s Degree in Business Leadership and absorb everything they will teach you like a baby sponge.

Step 2: Use all that knowledge and apply for a job. Orientate toward some appealing (and well-paid) career paths or jobs and make your pick. Take your time, do some comparisons, ask around, do not be afraid to inquire about the advantages and the drawbacks of a certain career and do not forget about the job outlooks. Check out the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and see which are the 2008-2018 jobs/professions’ trends – with special emphasis on business management, of course.

Once you are all done with this thorough analysis, you could move forward and start applying for a job of your liking.

Step 3: Put your knowledge into practice. Work as a general manager, an entrepreneur, a production, marketing or a sales manager. Not exactly sure what each of these careers involve? Here is a quick insight on all of these professions.

General managers are responsible for the supervision of all the employees within a company. They are also responsible for the creation and implementation of the best marketing and sales plans that can ensure the success of the business. The general manager needs to be regarded as the strong link of a company, the supreme element that keeps everything running smoothly and prevents everything from falling apart.

Entrepreneurs are able to take a small and apparently insignificant idea and turn it into the most palpable reality ever. They are able to get business owners the money they need to start up their business or develop it and make sure all operations are going as planned, every step of the way.

Production managers are responsible for constantly keeping an eye on production levels, making sure the costs are at their minimum and that the production technologies are at their best.

Marketing managers are able to carefully analyze all aspects related to promotion, market research, media use and the introduction of all the new promotion mediums available due to all the new technologies that have been created lately. These people are responsible for successfully making a company’s products and services known by all means.

Sales managers are those people who are responsible for the sales boosting process within the company and also for the discovery of new talent who can contribute to the increase of the products that are being sold.

Managerial work is simply one of many jobs which a leader is best suited for. Leaders are both born and made, but they both have common qualities which they must bear in order to do well in their positions.
